A wellness journey begins with a quest for self-knowledge. Understanding and exploring yourself is an ongoing process. Following my Self-Exploration Guide series, a good practice to expand is Mindful Meditation.
Mindful Meditation
Mindful meditation can help you sort through and turn off the endless chatter in your mind. You are reconnecting to your body and the sensations of sight, smell, sound, and taste of the present moment that it experiences. It is a platform to help us to become aware of what is going on around us. All day long our minds are engaged in numerous activities around our work, finances, family and often we are not aware of the internal soundtrack unwinding in the background. Our minds tend to pay more attention to negative experiences than to the positive ones.
As you begin to meditate on a regular basis, you will develop the ability to calmly and objectively observe a situation. You can practice meditation by simply breathing in and out, observing the breath, and tuning into the environment around you. Mindfulness involves observing your thoughts in a detached manner without judging them. You will learn to reflect when you are triggered, and consciously choose how you want to respond.
Meditation is an excellent tool for awakening new neural connections and transforming regions of the brain. Mediation takes us beyond the mind’s noisy chatter, and into the silence in our mind. Your thoughts, actions and reaction become infused with more love and inspiration.
To summarize, meditation:
Helps to decrease stress, anxiety, and depression
Focuses on the peace of the present moment
Improves sleep and relaxation
Improves relationships
Improves problem solving
